This lesson is about using visual aids to help in the understanding of culture. The process of explaining a culture is very difficult to begin with, and nearly impossible without the use of the senses. i.e. Typical classroom lecturing is not conducive to fully explain culture. Students must be able to see images, hear music, taste food to get a richer understanding of culture.
Assignment:
Make a video that describes a facet of hispanic culture. It can be brief - a couple minute will suffice. Keep commentary succinct as 2 minutes does not give much time. Include pictures.

The technology used in this lesson changes the teaching / learning in this way: Students must learn more than dry facts and vocabulary to understand hispanic culture. This video assignment forces them to connect ideas with images and sound. This helps students to understand that culture is a multi-faceted idea that must be conveyed in many different ways in order to be fully understood. That culture cannot be taught, but it must be experienced.
